Family Day Updates!

Picture
Happy Family Day to everyone from all of us here at the farm.  I hope you all find ways to connect with your loved ones in meaningful ways today.  For the sake of spending time with my own family today, I am keeping this post short, but wanted to share some updates.
I know many of you are wondering when we will be reopening.  Although the provincial stay at home order is ending for this region on Tuesday, we need a little more time to complete some new projects.   This upcoming week will see a few things finalized and then I'll have a clearer date set for reopening.  More detailed announcements will be coming soon - promise!
Our boy SRM Godric has his check up with his Dr. this past week on his broken leg.  The bone is not quite set or stable enough yet to be fully removed.  He has 4 more weeks in this current (very Toronto Maple Leafs) model, at which point it will be reassessed again.  There are tiny bones in these dwarf goats!  We are fortunate that he is healing as well as he is.
With that, I am off to spend some time connecting with my own loved ones near and far today!  ❤ ~ Angee

Winter has it's Upside!

Picture
There is something so mystical about a barn in the winter.  It stands strong, stark and tall against the darkened stormy sky, guarding it's precious inhabitants from the icy grip of a wicked winter storm.  Walking from the house to the barn through a snow squall, with the winds off of Three Mile Lake, is no fun.  Blinded by the wind and snow, by the time you're entering through the door it's like going through a portal.   All is peaceful inside the barn and the animals are warm, safe and comfortable.  It is easy to ignore what goes on outside when there is so much love, comfort and warmth inside.  A perfect sacred space to weather many kinds of storms.
The snow started coming down on Friday and it really hasn't stopped yet.  We're over the 2.5 foot mark of the most gorgeous powdery snow and I think more may be coming.  I have zero complaints because I love the snow.  There are many good reasons to love winter, but for me it is the number of outdoor activities available, of which cross country skiing and snow shoeing are my favourites.  I am blessed to live on this incredible land with amazing trails to enjoy, right outside my front door.  Last week was especially beautiful and I was able to get out quite a few times, and even took the herd out onto Three Mile Lake again.  Sadly we encountered no one this time but the goats were kind enough to leave a very obvious trail of our passing, which I am sure left a few snowmobilers scratching their heads.  🐐🐐🐐

The past couple weeks of rest have been exactly what I needed. Giving myself permission was the hardest and biggest step.  The reward was a clearer vision, renewed sense of self, and a new sense of direction.  I've set new intentions and goals for myself and also for the farm and business.  Brand new programs and exciting new ways to connect with the herd will be announced in the coming weeks as the provincial "Stay at Home" orders lift.  Until the time comes when we can all freely mingle again, we're working hard to put together some new offerings that will be the next best thing to physically coming to the farm.   Can't wait to share all the details soon!    ~ With love, Angee

Recognizing when it's time to pause...

Picture
Hello friends.  Strange times lately have left me feeling like I've been living in the "twilight hours" of late.  Things have been quiet on my end, but all is well.  I have been taking some very much needed time for myself during this lockdown.  Recognizing when you need some time for yourself is a good thing, and a lesson that I have had a hard time learning.   My mantra lately has been a rolling         RELAX  RESTORE  REFLECT  REIMAGINE
I am spending very little time on my devices during this time as the negative impact far outweighs the good.   I am reconnecting with myself through routines and practices that have always nurtured me.  During this time I am working hard to make adjustments to ensure the long term success of my dream and vision.  I may continue to be silent a bit longer, however soon will be back with great new announcements and program options.  I am looking forwards to sharing with everyone in more depth soon.   Sending everyone Love and Light ✌❤🐐  ~  Angee

"Healing with the Herd" is a personal blog journey of discovery, reflection and sharing of Angee's observations while healing with her herd of animal friends.

Born and raised in Southern Ontario in the mid 70's,  on a small rural farm,  Angee would often seek solace in her families barn with the animals that lived there.  This was her sanctuary, and it is here that she developed her ability to make deep connections with animals.  These four legged creatures became her first friends, confidantes and protectors.   Angee  earned her BA in Child and Family Studies from Nipissing University in 2013, and is also a graduate of the FEEL (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning) Certification Program and the Advanced FEEL Certification Program.   She is now enrolled in Wisdom Circles with Horse Medicine Lodge for her Shamanic studies.  Angee's path of personal development and learning led her to create Sky River Meadows, a place where both people and animals can come to learn, connect and heal together.
